Rural Development

The progress of humanity as a whole depends on the growth of each individual. The Rural Development initiative recognizes the importance of rural areas in this collective evolution.

The initiative focuses on sustainable and inclusive development in specific areas, including:

  1. Access to Safe Drinking Water

  2. Education

  3. Medical Aid

  4. Assistance for Differently-Abled Individuals

  5. Skill development

These projects aim to improve the overall well-being of rural communities and therefore, empower and enhance their livelihoods, and create the sustained possibility of advancement.

Lokaa Foundation has been working with 1000 villages around Ekam (in Chittoor District of Andhra Pradesh) holding a ‘Human Being First, Infrastructure Next’ approach. The vision of this initiative is to create equitable communities, in which growth for both individuals and the collective is nurtured through personalized development. Through partnerships with the government and various other stakeholders, Lokaa Foundation has been able to positively impact the lives of over 34,000 individuals. The rural development projects have made a tangible difference, inspiring hope and transforming lives in these villages.

Clean Drinking Water Initiative

This initiative, aimed at providing clean drinking water, has significantly improved the lives of thousands of villagers. Before the installation of 100 clean drinking water plants, the villagers were exposed to contaminated water that contained an excessive fluoride content. This resulted in many health issues, especially for children, newborns and pregnant women, and led to a decrease in opportunities for the villagers. However, with the support of Lokaa Foundation, the villagers now have access to clean water, which has improved their physical health and allowed them to focus on the growth and development of their communities.

Education Initiative

This initiative has contributed to supporting the education of underprivileged students and renovation of existing schools in hundreds of villages in the surrounding areas.

They say that, curiosity means having the capacity for imagination and growth. Thus, the initiative also includes the construction of washrooms in education centers, which often lack in certain rural communities. Additionally, teachers are trained not only in academics but also in how to nurture the creativity and productivity of village children. These teachers are also taught how to personalize their approach to education and help children identify their skills and individualize their development. This initiative has transformed the way education is approached in rural communities and is fostering a new generation of connected and creative youth.

Lokaa Foundation has embarked on a mission to promote holistic health in rural India through the ‘Swarna Bindu Prasanam’, which is a unique Ayurvedic approach to boost immunity and brain health in children. This method involves administering minute quantities of gold calx along with medicinal herbs to boost the immunity and brain health of children. The treatment is to be taken once a month for a period of 24 months, with the aim of improving the overall wellness of the child's body and mind.

During the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic in India, Lokaa Foundation led the Bless India initiative wherein, over 50,000 COVID safety kits were donated to families affected by the pandemic, including local villagers, military personnel, press and hospitals in the states of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Tamil Nadu.

In addition, the foundation conducts free medical camps every month in the villages around Ekam. This initiative has positively impacted the lives of 33,000 villagers, not only improving their health but also setting them on a path towards a healthier and happier future.

Assistance for Differently-Abled Individuals

This initiative aims to improve the physical and mental health of physically disabled individuals in rural communities. So far, 1575 physically disabled people have received assistance in addressing their physical and medical needs, while also learning how to manage and improve their mental health. This approach recognizes that many physically disabled individuals also experience mental health challenges. By addressing both aspects of their health, this initiative helps these individuals improve their overall well-being and become more connected members of their communities.
