Anilpuram stands out as one of the foundation’s flagship project under the World Village Project. Located in rural Andhra Pradesh, India, this village is home to about 125 families from the indigenous Yanadi community, a traditionally marginalized tribal group facing challenges like flooding, poor housing, and limited access to resources.

Lokaa Foundation’s transformation of Anilpuram began as a story of hope and resilience, aiming to create a model for balanced, Earth-honoring living. Key developments include:

  • Relocation and Safety: Land has been acquired in a non-flood-prone zone to relocate the community, ensuring long-term security.

  • Eco-Friendly Infrastructure: With Indian Institute of Science (IISc, Bengaluru) collaborating with us, Anilpuram is taking shape as a fully sustainable village built through reclaimed, repurposed, and carefully engineered materials. Urban construction debris is turning into the elements that will hold the village together: 125 modular homes, a knowledge Centre, an experience Centre, community courtyards, and the essential infrastructure that will support the village for decades incorporating cluster greens, shared gardens, and food corridors for self-sufficiency.

  • Sustainability Features: Solar power for energy, waste-to-resource conversion (e.g., composting and recycling), rainwater harvesting, and biodiversity-friendly landscaping. These elements reduce environmental impact while promoting health and economic independence.

  • Community Empowerment: Programs emphasize education (e.g., summer camps for children), wellness, and cultural preservation, fostering a “world-centric” mindset free from division.

The cluster greens, food corridors, shared gardens, and pathways inspired by Yanadi architecture are now rising piece by piece with compassionate heartful contributions. You can already sense the intention to build in a way that protects the land, strengthens the community, and honors their heritage.

Anilpuram is becoming a village shaped by memory, guided by science, and designed for a future where people and Earth rise together with balance, care, and dignity.

The village exemplifies the foundation’s goal: a place where people and planet coexist in harmony, serving as an inspiration for global replication.

A project of this scale, built with this depth of sustainability and cultural respect, is truly one of its kind in the world.

It emphasizes our philosophy “Human Being First, Infrastructure Next”, prioritizing mindset shifts and personal growth before building physical structures.
