About the event
A Greener Ganesh Chaturthi
This year, Ganesh Chaturthi bloomed with a renewed spirit of environmental consciousness. Lokaa Foundation, hand-in-hand with local communities, organized eco-friendly celebrations across seven villages: Krishnapuram, Santoshpuram, Mookalchenu, Gandhipuram, Ramapuram, Anilpuram, and Darakasthu.
The focus wasn't just on festivities, but on protecting Mother Earth. Clay idols, free from harmful chemicals, enhanced the traditional ones. The immersion process, conducted with respect for the elements, ensured a pollution-free goodbye to Lord Ganesha.
Social responsibility echoed throughout the celebrations. Crackers were replaced with joyful songs and vibrant traditions like prasad distribution and colorful puliveshas. This wasn't just a celebration; it was a collective effort. Villagers, young and old, men and women, came together with enthusiasm.
Lokaa Foundation extends its gratitude to the police personnel who ensured a smooth celebration. More than 500 people embraced this greener way of honoring Lord Ganesha. This spirit resonated beyond the villages, garnering media attention from 3 news channels and 4 newspapers. Their coverage helped spread awareness about eco-friendly festivities.
Lokaa Foundation's first eco-friendly Ganesh Chaturthi wasn't just a celebration; it was a testament to the power of community and a beacon for a future where tradition and environmental responsibility go hand-in-hand.
